How do I Find a Scholarly Article?

The best way to find a scholarly article is by searching in one of the library's subscription databases.  These databases contain thousands of scholarly journals, and full-text articles.  There are many databases to choose from in each discipline. If you aren't sure where to start, here are a few suggestions:

  • Search many databases in the library collection at once!  This will give you results to scholarly articles, as well as much more. To start looking for peer-reviewed articles, you can enter keywords into the box on the library home page.

You will be asked to log in to the database with your last name and student ID. On the following page, you can indicate that you only want to see scholarly (or peer reviewed) articles by checking the box on the right hand side of the page.

  • Look at the subject guide most aligned with your topic for suggested databases.
  • Look at the descriptions of databases on the Databases A-Z list to determine which database you would like to search in.
